Sparrow surge
I can't remember when I've had so many House Sparrows outside my window - flying back and forth to nests in the eaves of various houses. Seven or eight birds involved - it really is great to see them. Perhaps next year they will eventually nest in my sparrow nestbox that's been up about 6 years! Also a pair of Blackbirds and a singing Wren in the garden.
It remained too cool for much insect activity - all I could see at the station were a couple of Marmalade Hoverflies, a Buff-tailed Bumblebee and a Rose Chafer. The Chiffchaff still singing nearby.
